QUICK TEST FOR A FINGER MEANING

We aren't so sure about palm reading, but finger reading may help predict your future. That’s because the difference in length between your index and ring fingers depends on the amount of testosterone you were exposed to in the womb. This can affect everything from how aggressive you are to your risk of prostate cancer. See below to find out what you can divine from your digits.

TWO GROUPS OVERVIEW FOR THE FINGER MEANING

INDEX FINGER LONGER THAN RING FINGER - Less Testosterone before Birth

*Prostate Cancer
You may be a third less likely to develop prostate cancer, according to a study in British Journal of Cancer.

*Osteoarthritis
A UK study found that you may be half as likely to develop osteoarthritis as a man with even fingers or a shorter index finger.

*Fertility
Your sperm count may be on the low side an International Journal of Andrology study found.

INDEX FINGER SHORTER THAN RING FINGER - More Testosterone before Birth

*Heart Attack
You may be less likely to have a heart-attack in your 30s and 40s, according to a study in the British Journal of Cardiology.

*Aggression
You tend to be more physically aggressive than men with longer pointers, Canadian scientists note.

*Mental Toughness
UK researchers report that you would probably be more mentally tough and optimistic.

RAISING THE RISK

Admittedly, there's not much you can do about it, but according to research from the US National Cancer Institute, tall men are at greater risk of testicular cancer. After analyzing 13 studies investigating the disease, researchers found that for every five centimetres in height above average (175 cm), the risk increased by 13 percent. There's no need for drastic leg-shortening measures, though. While the researchers say they don't fully understand how height influences risk, they stress that family history is a much more important part of the picture.
